Note: This small Fucus species (5-10 cm tall) occurs exclusively in the intertidal at strongly wave-exposed sites. It is found on the north and west coasts of Norway. It carries long and swollen receptacles from the end of branches during spring. These are lost during summer. It possesses an inconspicuous mid-rib and caecostomata (enclosed cavities in the cortex).
