Note: In Norway the species is found along the coast, except in the Skagerrak region and in the eastern part of Finnmark. Thallus is normally up to 5 cm long, with flattened main axes and side branches, branches in one plane but normally of irregular length. It grows mainly in rock pools and in the upper subtidal. Many individuals often grow together.
