2 of 4: Thallus
This is a southern species which is very rare in Norway. Before a registration in Tjongspollen in 1998 (Heggøy 2001, Cand. scient. thesis, University of Bergen) the last known observation of the species in Norway was in 1908. Recently this species have been recorded from three sites in Norway, all being warm-water polls. The species can be separated from Codium fragile by having a more irregular branching, by having utricles with rounded apex, having hairs or hair scars on the apex rim of utricle, and by having gametangia attached to the lower part of the utricle (1/2 - 2/3 distance below apex).
