Note: The species forms tufts on receptacles of Himanthalia elongata. The basis is composed of a pseudoparenchymatous and hemispherical cushion. From this relatively long (to 14 cells) paraphyses and erect uniseriate and unbranched filaments (to 1 cm long) grow. When fertile, the species has unilocular sporangia, borne at the base of the paraphyses. The species is relatively rare in Norway, where it has been found on the southwest coast.
