Note: The species may grow to 0.5 m tall, and is often found in relatively wave-exposed areas, often as an epiphyte on Laminaria hyperborea. It normally has one main axes, densely set with short lateral branches in a spiral arrangement. A few laterals may grow to long axes, also these densely set with short laterals. The axes have a central cell surrounded by 6(7) periaxial cells, and a thick layer of cortical cells.
