Note: The species consists of several densely tufted bright pink or dark brownish-red erect axes and are 1.5 - 20 cm tall with an irregular alternate or pseudo dichotomous branching. Cells are multinucleate. Characteristic ovoid and deeply pigmented unicellular propagules develop from upper end of laterals, borne on an un-pigmented pedicel. Gametangial and tetrasporangial structures are unknown.
