Note: This is a very common coralline alga in the sublittoral along the coast of Norway. It has a bright pink colour. It may grow as thick crusts on rock, forming knobs or stunted branches on the surface, or it may form loose lying rhodolites with thick and irregular branches in maerl beds. Note that also other coralline algae can form rhodolites, and these are very difficult to identify by morphology alone.
