Note: The species is common in the sublittoral and grows along the entire coast of Norway. It has round and repeatedly dichotomously divided axes, 1-2 mm in diameter, and has a brownish red to red habit. It is attached to the substratum by small branches, and fertile tetrasporophytes have zonate tetrasporangia in outer part of axes.
