Note: In Norway the species has been found in South-Norway. In 2007 it was frequently found on stipes of Laminaria hyperborea on the southwest coast of Norway, but is normally relatively rare. Thalli consist of prostrate and erect blades. Erect blades are up to 15 cm long, deeply dissected in segments and attached by a short stipe-like constriction resulting from erosion of the blade basally. The blade has microscopic veins and many nerves, more conspicuous towards the base, and is monostromatic except for the polystromatic nerves.
