Note: Thin, delicate, monostromatic blades with a wavy edge. A narrow part at the blade edge forms rhizoids, which attach the blade to the substratum. Vegetative cells are mostly angular and to 24 um across, each with a parietal chloroplast with one pyrenoid. Sporangia form from vegetative cells in groups of 4 or 8. A Codiolum cell forms the sporophytic stage. The species can be found in the intertidal during spring, often growing a bit wave exposed.
