Note: The species is seasonal and occurs in the upper sublittoral during spring-early summer in South-Norway, and during summer in North-Norway. It has a characteristic habit with a long (normally to 1 m) and unbranched thallus, densely covered with pigmented assimilation hairs, except for the lowermost part.
