Note: The species grows in the lower part of the intertidal and in the upper subtidal during spring and summer. It is not present in North-Norway. Mature individuals can be identified by the yellow patches or slits of male gametangia around the edge. The species is monoecious, with male gametangia and zygotosporangia intermixed in sori along the edges.
