Feather-branched thallus of a six cm long specimen

Thallus is up to 10 cm long and siphonous, with cross-walls only forming in lateral branches during reproduction. Lateral branches form in one plane. This separates it from B. hypnoides, where lateral branches are irregularly or spirally arranged.
